The Company of Tears formed spontaneously in February 1996 when Rhynn Wanderer discovered the Mask of Tears in his recently deceased grandfather's attic. Alarm at the effects of donning the mask caused ripples in the nearby Dreaming. Many were soon on their way to aid Rhynn while others sought to do him harm.
